My main research focus is how party competition around issue attention shapes public policy. I focus both on the attention dynamics among parties - issue competition - and how it is affected by the dynamics modern mass media. Further, I look at the consequences for public policy. In the past, I have focused on such policy areas as health, immigration, social policy, and morality issues
