The focus of my research is the urban environmental problem in developing countries which is found not to be the absence of policy, but on people's perception of the policies and the agency or agencies responsible for their implementations. The level of cooperation of the public members that will be enjoyed in governance is dependent on the perception held. Therefore, there is the need to evaluate how people perceive policies on environmental issues. The evaluation of the public perception is based on the different residential zones of the cities in Nigeria. Similarly, urban residential area solid waste management in terms of generation, storage, collection, transportation and disposal among others are also evaluated based on the social and economic attributes of the residents. Through the various researches, factors responsible for the different aspects of solid waste management in the different land uses and residential environment are identified and policies to evolve an effective and efficient solid waste management are proposed.
