My current research focus is accountability strategies and policies in K-12 public education. I am particularly interested in accountability approaches, such as professional and market strategies, that go beyond the test-based accountability that currently dominates the field. I am also interested in governance issues, particularly the role of mayors and other state actors who takeover or otherwise heavily influence the direction of education policies and practices.
