After working in solar energy policy in California for the last three years, I am interested in exploring the intersection of individual agency and renewable energy penetration on the US electric grid. Within the intersection I want to look at the differences between investor owned utilities, publicly owned utilities and cooperative utilities. Is one structural model more conducive to renewable energy connectivity to the grid? What factors may explain why one utility has more renewable energy generation than other?
