I continue to be concerned with the communication of policy meanings, both through the methods or tools of communication and in the substantive meanings, the latter in certain policy issue areas. Current research extends the earlier analysis of US race-ethnic categories in public policy and administrative practices to The Netherlands, in the context of 'migration' and 'integration' policies. This is a comparative policy project that focuses on language use in various aspects of the policy setting. Other work looks at policy frames/framing and frame analysis; state research regulation policies and practices (e.g., US IRBs); science museums and the idea of 'science'; insider/outsider research relationships; and practice studies, including reflective practice.
